About Troon Community Sport Hub
The community sport hub initiative, Sportscotland's contribution to the Scottish Government's 2014 legacy plan, is an exciting and innovative approach to the development of sport in local clubs.
There are currently 16 local clubs and activity groups working together within the Troon Community Sport Hub. Our vision is to build a unified sporting community that inspires a culture of sport for all. Our aim is to deliver this vision through increased training and development opportunities for the people that make sport happen in and around Troon.
Jacqueline Lynn, Head of School and Community Sport at sportscotland:
"While we are engaging with our partners to develop community sport hubs, we ultimately want local communities to take ownership of them. The hubs will provide a 'home' for local clubs and local sport, so it is vital that communities are leading and managing them. Communities will always be at the heart of the hubs. The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has presented us with a unique opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation. The community sport hubs will provide a focus for local communities to engage in a more active and healthy lifestyle."
